Bodallin Dam is a lovely little campsite south of the Great Eastern Highway between Carrabin and Southern Cross.

There are three different areas that you can camp in.

The main area is located east of the dam and is large enough for any type of vehicle.

Don't take what looks like the main entrance when you are headeing south on Stephen Road. Keep going until you see a track on the right that looks a little less used.

This leads to a big area where you will find shade but you won't get a view of the dam.

The track you would have pseed to get to the main area will lead you down to a smallish area by the side of the dam. This area is sloping and there could be problems turning if someone else is already camped there.

Area number three is around the back of the dam and is the most difficult to get to,

The track in to it leads away from the main campsite to the left and then winds its way round to the back of the dam.

It is a nice spot but I recommend walking it first in case someone else is already there or if you have any doubts about getting your rig through the overhanging trees.

There are no facilities at the dam so you need to be self sufficient.

The main campsite will be best for most people but it may be worth checking the other two smaller sites out if you would like to camp right next to the water.

The dam is set well back from the highway so traffic noise should not be a problem.

An alternate site that you can stay overnight is at Bodallin Roadhouse.

This will be more suitable for those without self contained rigs as there are toilets and other facilities such as seats, tables, a shelter and even a public phone.

The roadhouse can also supply food and drinks as well as fuel.

The only problem with this site is road noise but you can get back a little way from the highway so it might be ok for those who aren't light sleepers.
